Town on slopes of the Zamecka hora, the Kotouc and the Bila hora mountains. The dominating feature is the round tower called “Stramberska truba”. It is a remain of castle dissoluted in 18th century. The tower has been modified into an outlook-tower in the beginning of 20th century. You can also see a gate or remains of the old castle. There are significant monuments of folklore and municipal architecture- a collection of 85 Wallachian timber buildings from the second half of 18th century, Baroque and Empire houses on the square. The Mestske (municipal) museum with paleontological, archeological, historical and ethnical exposition may be visited on the square. Close to this square, the museum of famous painter and illustrator Zdenek Burian is located. The cave Sipka is set at the south border of the town and on the north slope of Kotouc. It is a national monument where remains of Neanderthal baby’s jawbone have been discovered.
